Perceived Flooding Kills Business
Because of the speculative claims of an impending flood in Rocheport and the perpetuation of said claims by over-zealous media, the businesses in the the tourist village have suffered greatly.
The current business district in Rocheport is not endangered by rising waters, even when a proper flood has been substantiated as in the Great Flood of 1993. Moreover, the main stretch of the Katy Trail in Rocheport is still fully functional up to a flood stage of 30 feet with the help of barriers.
Many of the townsfolk rely on the business of tourists and shoppers. In fact, a lack of steady business can make a dramatic financial impact on the lives of citizens.
